Combined Federal Campaign #2979

The 13th Annual Freedom Alliance Army-Navy Weekend in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia held November 30 through December 2 provided Freedom Alliance supporters and friends from all over the country an exciting and extraordinary opportunity to enjoy time with Freedom Alliance President Tom Kilgannon, Founder and Honorary Chairman LtCol Oliver North and each other.

The weekend festivities began with the Annual Steven SillerDefender of Freedom Award Dinner at the Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City.  LtCol Oliver North, USMC (Ret.) presented the Freedom Alliance 2006 Defender of Freedom Award to New York City Firefighter Stephen Siller “In recognition of his courage and sacrifice on September 11, 2001.  Stephen’s heroism demonstrated his fidelity to the principles of freedom and the United States of America.”  The award, presented posthumously, was accepted by Stephen’s brother, Frank Siller, who is Chairman of the FDNY “Let Us Do Good” Children’s Foundation, which the Siller family founded in Stephen’s honor.  Click here for more about Stephen Siller and his award.

Friday morning featured a panel discussion entitled, “Perspectives on the 2006 Elections and Their Impact on America.  Guest speakers included:  Kellyanne Conway, President, the polling company; Terry Jeffrey, Editor, Human Events; David Keene, Chairman, American Conservative Union and Matt Cooper, Washington Editor of Portfolio magazine and former TIME magazine White House correspondent.

Mr. Griff Jenkins, a correspondent with FOX NEWS Radio, who had just returned from a two week trip to Iraq, was the luncheon speaker.  Griff shared some of his photos from the war zone and gave his candid impression of the situation there.

One of the weekend’s highlights was the Friday afternoon and evening tour of Mount Vernon, including the new Orientation Center, Museum and Education Center, and George Washington’s Presidential Library.  Guests enjoyed the exclusive “Mount Vernon by Candlelight” tour of George and Martha Washington’s estate, which was decorated for an 18th century Christmas.  Later, there was dinner at the Mount Vernon Inn with none other than General George Washington, himself!

On Saturday morning, the group traveled to Philadelphia to enjoy the 107th Annual Army-Navy Football Game from skyboxes atop Lincoln Financial Field and watch Navy defeat Army 26 to 14.
