This year Freedom Alliance and Sean Hannity were proud to hold TWO huge, successful FREEDOM CONCERTS. On July 21, with hosts 77WABC Radio in New York and Six Flags Great Adventure, the Fourth Annual Hannity Freedom Concert was held with country music super stars Hank Williams, Jr., Sara Evans and Lee Greenwood. On August 2 another great Freedom Concert, hosted by 760KFMB Radio and House of Blues, was held at the Coors Amphitheatre in San Diego, California. KFMB radio star, Rick Roberts, joined Sean Hannity and Ollie North for a rockin’ night with Hank Williams Jr. and Lee Greenwood, who were joined by country music legend Charlie Daniels and his band. Tony Orlando opened the Freedom Concert with his famous “Tie A Yellow Ribbon” honoring our troops and their families. The Freedom Concerts benefited the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund, which provides college scholarships to children of our Armed Forces who have sacrificed life or limb in defense of our country. Freedom Alliance Scholarship recipients Kristen Mancini, a student in Washington, D.C., appeared at the New Jersey Concert and southern California students, Corinne and Shannon Snell (pictured above), attended the San Diego concert, representing the 100 scholarships recipients of 2006. Radio and TV celebrities and other VIPs who joined the ffestivities included: authors Ann Coulter and David Limbaugh (brother of Rush Limbaugh); radio hosts Mark Levin and Rick & Bubba; Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa; former Congressman Tom Delay; TV personality Susan Lucci and Monique Marvez of 101.9 JACK-FM in San Diego. The “Hannity & Colmes” show was broadcast live from the San Diego Concert on the FOX News Channel and featured special guest PFC Joshua Sparling (pictured right), who was severely wounded in Iraq in 2005 and is being treated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Other special guests on “Hannity & Colmes” that night included Ollie North, former POW David Jacobsen and Ann Coulter. Via a special satellite hookup at the San Diego Concert, our wonderful troops from Iraq appeared on the jumbo outdoor screens and talked live with Ollie North and Sean Hannity, as the crowd cheered for them with thunderous applause. At both concerts Freedom Alliance also hosted Gold Star Families from Ft. Hood, Texas and brought wounded warriors and their families from Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Bethesda Naval Hospital in Washington, D.C. and Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton and the Naval Medical Center San Diego. They were all treated to a hero’s welcome at the Freedom Concerts as Ollie and Sean and the crowd of thousands thanked them for their service to our country. |
