Supporting the Academy

The Military Leadership Academy is making a difference in the lives of young men and women all across the United States. By teaching them the basic foundations of leadership, we are equipping them with the core skills needed to become successful adults and good citizens.

Academy graduates are highly motivated, drug free, physically fit and goal oriented. Many have pursued careers in the military and as DOD civilians, such as the Navy Criminal Investigative Service, while others go to college to use their abilites in the private sector.

Graduates of our program don’t waste their youth watching TV or “hanging” at the mall. Instead, they invest their time serving their communities through youth activities, volunteering to help clean up their neighborhoods, and helping the poor.

This camp has taught me some important values including respect, integrity and personal courage – and also how to work as [a member of] a team. When I get home I am going to teach other people about the things that I learned.
                                            -
Armando, Academy graduate

It is through the support of thousands of Americans who believe in investing in the lives of young Americans that makes the Academy possible.

Volunteer

The Leadership Academy needs volunteers in three areas:

  • Program and Doctrine Development – Headquarters, Dulles Virginia
    Each year, we review our training doctrine and methods. Former military officers and NCOs are invited to help us develop our program to become the best youth leadership school in the nation;

  • Administration – Headquarters, Dulles, Virginia
    The Administration section of the Academy provides support for marketing, registration, technology systems and development;

  • Field Operations Volunteers (FOVs) – Various Locations Across the United States
    Field operations volunteers assist the day-to-day operations of Leadership Academy classes. FOVs volunteer for an entire class. Prior military experience is helpful but not required.
